Description

COMPACT GAS METER

Accesories NOT Included: (swivels, nuts and gaskets , you can buy at a plumbing supply house)

There is no other gas meter available in the american market that is as compact as this Gas Meter.

Measures 8.2″ x 4.7″x 6.6″.

Weighs only 5 lbs

Capable of measuring Natural Gas Burners and Appliances up to 112,000 BTU’s

Propane gas, capable of measuring LPG Gas Burners and Appliances up to 185,000 BTU’s

Applications: It is the same type of meter that a utility uses to bill residential and small commercial customers just smaller and compact.

It isideal for sub-metering space that is leased out, doing energy monitoring on specific pieces of equipment or for lab usage to monitor totalized flow of a process.

Gas is measured in cubic meters with a 4 digit black odometer index for cubic meters and a 3 digit red odometer index for liters .

Accuracy

The Gas Meter odometer index can be read to 1 liter accuracy (equivalent to 61 cubic inches).

This means it can measure the gas usage of a pilot light on a furnace or water heater.

Odometer index is much clearer to read than the old fashioned dial type .

It is customarily used on natural gas, propane or air, but can also be used on other dry gases such as dry CO2, Nitrogen or Propane/Air. It can measure all types of gases, email us export@excelonlinestore.com for technical support.

It can be installed in gas lines up to 1.4 PSIG (38″ WC) of pressure.

A typical Natural gas Line is 7″ WC.

A typical LPG gas Line is 11″ WC.

There are 1000 liters in m3, that is why the red part of the odometer goes from 000 to 999 liters and resets back to 000 , the black part of the odometer starts with 1m3 up to 10,000 m3.

For Natural Gas Users:

One m3 is equal to 35.3 cubic feet of gas
One liter (red part of the odometer) is equal to 0.0353 cubic feet.

A therm is 100,000 BTU. = 100 cu feet of Nat Gas = 2.830 m3

If the gas meter started the reading at 0000.000; one therm in the gas meter is 0002.830.

In other words, just DIIVIDE your m3 consumed by 2.83 to get THERMS.

For example if your meter begins the billing period at 10.000 on the odometer and ends at 12.830 . You subtract the final reading (12.830 ) from the initial reading (10.000 ) , the result is 2.83 which is divided by 2.83 is equal to one THERM

MORE TECH TRIVIA

The average heat value of natural gas is 1000 BTU per cubic foot. A BTU (British Thermal Unit) is enough heat to heat one pound of water one degree (F). Natural gas is sold to the customer in units of 100 cubic feet (therm) or in a unit called MCF.

A therm represents approx. 100,000 BTU of heating power, enough to heat a normal home for about 2hours during colder weather. MCF is ten therms, or 1 million BTU’s.

Natural Gas is delivered to the customer at a very low pressure, usually less than 1/2 PSI. The pressure is expressed in Water Column (WC), where 28″ WC = 1 PSI.

FOR LPG USERS

1 gallon of Liquid Propane Gas (LPG) converts to 36.39 cubic feet of Propane Gas , so in your gas meter , one cubic meter equals roughly to one vaporized gallon of propane .
